Z.ai Pro is a game changer!

I grabbed the Z.ai Pro annual plan with the early bird offer and it's been fantastic! The AI Coding Assistant is seriously powerful and has sped up my development workflow so much. I'm definitely going to renew next year and have already told my dev friends about it!

Cool for coding stuff

So I tried out Z.ai, mostly for the AI Coding Assistant. It actually helped me out a bunch with some tricky code snippets I was stuck on. It was pretty easy to get started with the free credits, which was cool. The whole site felt pretty smooth to use, no real headaches or anything. Good experience, might even upgrade later.

Testing the Z.ai Pro features

I got the Z.ai Pro subscription to really put the GLM-5.2 Model Access and Long-Horizon Task Agent through their paces. Ordering was straightforward on their website, and the license key landed in my inbox within a minute, which was efficient. I've been using it primarily for complex data structuring tasks, and the agent handles multi-step operations surprisingly well. The context window upgrades are also noticeable and make a real difference for longer projects. Customer support was responsive when I had a small query about API integration. Quality seems high; it's a robust tool for developers.

Solid platform, minor hiccup

I signed up for the Z.ai Pro trial to check out the Document Analysis Tool and overall, I'm pretty satisfied. The analysis capabilities are strong and it really helped with a research project. Delivery of my pro access was instant, which was great. However, I did have a bit of trouble finding the specific feature I needed in the UI at first; it wasn't as intuitive as I expected. Once I found it, though, it worked well. Good value for what it offers.

Thinking of switching over to Z.ai Pro from the Free plan, mainly for the Long-Horizon Task Agent. Anyone have real-world experience with it?

A AmitM 2 weeks ago
I've been using the Long-Horizon agent for automating some data analysis workflows. It's decent, but occasionally gets stuck or needs a nudge. Not perfect, but still better than doing it all manually. Also, I got a student discount which made the Pro plan much more affordable.

Yeah, I think it was mentioned during sign-up for new users or if you email support with your student ID.

Student discount, really? I didn't see that on their site. Where did you find it?

For long tasks, have you guys tried the Automated Workflow Agent too? Is it similar or for different use cases?
11
R Rahul87 2 weeks ago
The Workflow Agent is more about linking different tools and actions. Long-Horizon is more about a single, complex generative task.

R Rahul87 2 weeks ago
I made the switch a couple of months ago specifically for that. It's pretty good for complex research or content generation that needs multiple steps. Takes a bit to set up the initial prompts, but once it gets going, it's a huge time saver. Just don't expect it to write your whole thesis without supervision.

Following this, also considering the Pro plan.

Good to know! Is there a significant difference in the GLM-5.2 context window for Pro vs. Free that helps with those longer tasks?

My Z.ai Pro subscription renewal price was way higher than I expected this month. Anyone else seeing this or know why?

P PoojaR 49 minutes ago
Did you check if you were on an annual plan before? Sometimes the monthly is more expensive if you switch from annual.
4
M Meera 4 minutes ago
I was on monthly from the start, so it wasn't that. Good thought though.

C coolboy88 34 minutes ago
Same here! My bill jumped by about 25%. I think my initial subscription was on some early bird offer or something that just ended. Didn't realize it was a limited-time price.

M Meera 20 minutes ago
That makes sense. I probably signed up during a launch deal too. Annoying they don't make that clearer.

D Dev99 20 minutes ago
Mine was stable. Are you sure you didn't accidentally upgrade your context window or add more GLM-5.2 credits? That can bump up the cost.
8
M Meera 4 minutes ago
Nope, didn't change anything. Just the base Pro plan.

V VijayK 8 minutes ago
Maybe they increased prices generally? I'm due for renewal next month, curious now.

Could be. I'll reach out to support and see what they say.

planning to get the annual subscription for z.ai pro. do they give a discount for paying yearly or is it just monthly rates?

B Beth 1 month ago
They almost always have a discount for annual billing, usually around 20% off. It's applied automatically at checkout.

R Rachel S. 1 month ago
Yeah, if you switch to annual, you definitely get a better deal. I did it and saved a good chunk.

thinking about getting z.ai for my small dev team, but not sure if it's really better than just using chatgpt plus. anyone tried both for coding stuff?

D Dana Brooks 1 month ago
From my experience, the long-horizon task stuff on Z.ai is a game changer for bigger coding projects. ChatGPT tends to lose context on those.

D Derek 1 month ago
Yeah, I use Z.ai for code generation pretty heavily. It's good at keeping track of larger projects and the context window feels way bigger. Plus, GLM-5.2 is pretty solid.

just got my student ID approved. anyone know how to actually apply the student discount for the pro plan? like where do you enter it?

E Emma Kim 3 weeks ago
I think once your student status is verified, the discount should show up at the checkout page when you select a plan.
5
B Beth 3 weeks ago
Yeah, usually it's just part of the checkout flow once they confirm you're a student. It's not like a separate code you have to hunt for, afaik.

hey, was wondering if there are any current deals for new users? or like a free trial for the pro version? don't wanna jump in without testing it out first.

J Jared V. 1 month ago
They usually have free credits for new accounts, or sometimes a free trial for Pro. Check their main page or during checkout, it should pop up.

R Ryan C. 1 month ago
Yep, pretty sure I got some free credits when I signed up last month. It lets you test out the GLM-5.2 model a bit before committing.

quick question: can z.ai actually build a full, functional website or is it more like generating bits of code? i need something that can really put together a basic site.

M Mia E. 1 month ago
It's more than just bits. It actually has a website builder AI. I've seen it generate pretty complete basic sites. You give it the idea and it tries to lay it out.
4
L Lisa Nguyen 1 month ago
Yeah, it's pretty impressive for basic websites. Don't expect some super custom design firm level stuff, but for functional pages, it's solid.
